Dr. Luebben studied physics at the University of Bremen, Germany. He defended his Ph.D. thesis entitled “Numerical Description of Quenching Intensity of Vaporizing Fluids for two Quenching Oils” in 1994. Since 1986 he works at the Foundation Institute of Material Science in Bremen (IWT), Germany. Since 2001 he is the managing director of the Collaborative Research Center “Distortion Engineering” which was established from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft at the University of Bremen in cooperation with IWT. His research interests are distortion in general and especially quenching technology with focus on the measurement of heat transfer in gases and fluids, gas quenching, press quenching and simulation of quenching processes (phase transformation and distortion).
